A new project is starting, a new level tournament in l’Escala. The Emporium Chess Open wants to fill a gap that exists in international classical rhythm open tournaments in Girona. And for this reason, it will be part of the Catalan International Chess Open Circuit.
From Monday, August 31st to Sunday, September 6th, nine rounds will be played at the classical rhythm of 90 minutes per game and player plus 30 seconds of increment per move. Of these seven days of play, all the games will be started at 4:30 pm except for two of them when the round will be in the morning (Wednesday and Saturday at 10:00 am). In total, 2,700 euros will be distributed in prizes, of which 800 euros will be for the absolute winner and 500 euros for the best female player.
This tournament was born with the idea of holding a level tournament in an emblematic, quiet and very summery coastal town. L’Escala offers a range of alternative cultural, sporting and culinary activities. In addition, it coincides with the town’s Festa Major, which further expands the range of activities on offer.
